Democratising drug development
Agentic AI equipped with the right tools holds the potential to transform how we discover and develop new medicines. Our mission is to put this potential in the hands of every scientist, while ensuring privacy and scientific rigour.
Biology is complex
It is the most intricate system we know, and we understand very little of it. Developing a new medicine means making high-stakes decisions with many blind spots.
AI can help us navigate it
AI will not remove that complexity. It can help us gather evidence, reason across scales, and design better experiments with the resources we have.
It has to be accessible
For AI to make a real difference for patients, it has to reach the people who work on disease every day, in universities, hospitals and biotechs of every size.
Team
Zatoona B.V. is a spin-off from Radboud University.
What we believe
Scientists in charge
AI should extend a scientist's judgement, not replace it. The scientist sets the question and follows every step. What to trust remains their call.
Privacy first
AI has to follow the rules that research data already lives by. That means institutional policies, data protection law and the regulations of each field. Privacy is built in from the start, not added later.
Rigour before results
A result is a claim until it survives honest attempts to break it. Zatoona tests its findings against the evidence. Every step stays open to checking, the way science works.
Every program teaches something
A failed program holds as much knowledge as a successful one. Too often that knowledge is lost when the program ends. Both should inform the next.
Built with scientists
We build Zatoona with the researchers who use it. Our design partners test it on their own work. What they learn shapes what comes next.
Built on open science
Science moves forward when knowledge is shared. Zatoona builds on public data and open-source methods. Every source it uses is cited.
